Kingsley Coman is a doubt for the World Cup final after he missed training with illness - becoming the third member of the France squad to pick up the sickness problem.
Les Bleus take on Argentina at Lusail Stadium on Sunday as they try and win their second successive World Cup, having lifted the trophy in Russia four-and-a-half years ago. Didier Deschamps' side booked their place in the final with a 2-0 win over Morocco thanks to goals from Theo Hernandez and Randal Kolo Muani.
However, the French camp is beginning to be riddled with illness after Adrien Rabiot and Dayot Upamecano were both left out of the starting XI to take on Morocco. The pair fell ill as a result of the ever-present air conditioning in Qatar and weren't risked for the clash with the Atlas Lions, although they were named on the bench.
Now, L'Equipe has confirmed that Coman has picked up the illness after he started to feel flu symptoms before the game on Wednesday afternoon. As a result, the Bayern Munich winger didn't come on and missed lunch with his teammates, with Coman also sitting out of France's recovery session on Thursday evening.
Meanwhile, Rabiot is set to restart running and Upamecano will take part in the session as the duo are both feeling better following a spell with sickness. Olivier Giroud, Antoine Griezmann and Kylian Mbappe picked up minor knocks against Morocco, but the trio are expected to brush off those issues for the final.
Deschamps said: "Coman also had a fever this morning. In Doha, the temperatures have dropped a bit and you still have air conditioning on all the time. We have had a few cases of flu-like symptoms.
"We are trying to be careful so that it does not spread and the players have put in a great effort on the pitch and obviously their immune systems suffer. Dayot Upamecano felt bad immediately after the game against England. It happens when you exert yourself so much, your body weakens and you are more prone to getting these viruses.
"We’re taking all the necessary precautions, we’re trying to make sure it doesn’t spread, but viruses are of course infectious and we have to take precautions against them. We’ll separate him from the others and from Adrien as well."
It is not understood to be the reported 'Camel Flu' which is the common name for MERS (Middle-Eastern Respiratory Syndrome). Coman will be fighting fit to make the squad for the final, as will Karim Benzema ,who could make a remarkable return to the camp ahead of the game with Argentina.
Benzema was ruled out of the World Cup after picking up a thigh injury in Qatar on the eve of the tournament. However, he has returned to training at Real Madrid and Deschamps could call upon the forward, who is still registered as part of their 26-man squad after the France boss chose not to replace him.
