France Euro 2024 squad: Didier Deschamps' full team

The France Euro 2024 squad has been far from convincing so far at the tournament, but they've still managed to reach the semi-finals after struggling through the group stages and knockout rounds so far.

Les Bleus got off to winning ways in Germany with a 1-0 victory over Austria, but struggled against the Netherlands in the first goalless draw of Euro 2024. Then, in their final game, they failed to beat a Poland side already eliminated from the tournament, stuttering to a 1-1 draw and, subsequently, second in the group.

Things were ultimately made a lot more difficult for Didier Deschamps' side as a result. Instead of facing the likes of Turkey, Romania or the Netherlands (again), France were pitted on the side of the draw that contained Germany, Portugal, Spain and Belgium. That hasn't stopped them so far, though: in the last 16 they scraped past Belgium thanks to a Jan Vertonghen own goal, while a penalty triumph against Portugal in the quarters put to bed the ghosts of Euro 2020.

Still, a player from the France squad is yet to score in open play: their first was an Austrian own goal, Kylian Mbappe stepped up from the penalty spot to dispatch his goal against Poland, while Jan Vertonghen deflected the ball into his own net in the first knockout match. Indeed, just three goals in five matches is hardly reflective of dominant displays, but yet here they are in the final four.

Mbappe is struggling to hit full tilt after the broken nose he suffered against Austria requires him to now wear a mask while playing, and while there's enough quality around him to make sure that isn't too much of an issue, with the likes of Antoine Griezmann, Ousmane Dembele and N'Golo Kante all class players, things just aren't clicking so far.

They'll need to find a solution quickly, however. Their semi-final opponents, Spain, have been arguably the most impressive side at Euro 2024, with their abundant quality enough to cause plenty of problems for France. If they're to go all the way, Deschamps' team needs to find their form.

As ever, FourFourTwo will be covering every minute of the tournament live, providing details on all the Euro 2024 squads and how to watch each game, too.

France manager: Didier Deschamps

He's one of three men to have won the World Cup as a player and a manager: now Didier Deschamps could become the first man to be a European and world champion as a player and a coach.

For years, Les Bleus had all the talent in the world but were messy off the field, with head coaches proposing to girlfriends live on TV and walkouts at World Cup camps. That's all gone, now: Deschamps has reunited this country in their love of the national team, got the players proud to be singing the anthem again and though critics may suggest he's not the sharpest tactician, turning the 2022 World Cup final upside down from 2-0 down suggests that the former Juventus star has enough nous to lift another trophy as French boss.

France's star player

Kylian Mbappe

You have to ask? Five goals in World Cup finals, only the second to net a hat-trick in one, PSG's all-time leading scorer, the second-most expensive player of all-time… and now a Galactico. Kylian Mbappe is racking up quite the career – and he's still just 25 years old.

Expect maximum motivation in the semi-finals from a man with a laser-like focus on breaking records and already 48 goals from his first 83 France matches. Gulp.
