Left leads in French parliamentary vote, Macron's party second, National Rally third

Preliminary results suggest a significant shift in France's political composition, with no single group securing an outright majority in the 577-seat National Assembly. The left-wing New Popular Front appears to have made substantial gains, while President Macron's Ensemble coalition faces the prospect of a reduced presence.

As of 22:00 Paris time, the latest seat projections for the French National Assembly are:

• New Popular Front (left alliance): 177-192 seats
• Ensemble (Macron's coalition): 152-158 seats
• National Rally and allies (far-right): 138-145 seats
• The Republicans/Various Right: 63-67 seats
• Various Left: 14 seats
• UDI Various Center: 7 seats
• Others: 9-10 seats

Prime Minister Gabriel Attal has also that announced he will tender his resignation Monday morning but expressed willingness to remain in office "as long as duty requires" given the context of the upcoming Olympic Games.

First Round Results: In the first round on June 30, the National Rally led with 33.2 percent of the vote, followed by the New Popular Front at 28 percent and Ensemble at 20 percent. The Republicans finished fourth with 6.5 percent.
