Israel’s defense minister has criticized France’s decision to ban Israeli companies from participating in the upcoming Euronaval expo in Paris. The move has been described as 'a disgrace to the French nation' by Yoav Gallant, who believes that barring Israeli firms from the naval show could potentially aid Israel’s enemies during times of conflict.
French President Emmanuel Macron has also called for the suspension of arms sales to Israel, particularly in light of the recent conflict in Gaza. Macron has been advocating for a ceasefire in both Gaza and Lebanon, a proposal that Israel has openly opposed.
The ban on Israeli companies at the Euronaval expo means that they will not be allowed to have stands or exhibit equipment at the event. This decision has impacted seven Israeli firms, who will not be able to showcase their products at the prestigious naval show.
Despite the ban on displays, Israeli delegations are still welcome to attend the expo. Euronaval has made it clear that Israeli companies and citizens are free to participate in the event, which is scheduled to take place in Paris from November 4 to 7.
Israel’s defense minister has expressed strong sentiments against France’s actions, accusing the country of adopting a hostile policy towards the Jewish people. Gallant emphasized Israel’s commitment to defending itself against threats from various fronts, regardless of France’s stance.
This is not the first time that France has prohibited Israeli companies from showcasing their products at arms exhibitions. In June, Israeli firms were banned from participating in the Eurosatory weapons expo due to Israel’s military activities in Gaza.
Looking ahead, France is gearing up to host an international meeting to support the Lebanese people and enhance the country’s security situation. The diplomatic tensions between Israel and France continue to escalate, raising concerns about the future of their relationship.
