Fran Drescher's classic living room color trailblazes a stylish spin on the quiet luxury trend

Fran Drescher.

White walls are a tricky choice. Though the look provides a blank canvas for a variety of furniture and design schemes, if not done correctly, it can look cold or boring. This is markedly not the case in Fran Drescher's home.

The Nanny actress shared a video walking through her living room, and it's the perfect example of how to do a white color scheme right. Her color-drenched white walls, white floors, and white ceilings are perfectly smooth and shiny serving as the backdrop to her formidable collection of mid-century modern and contemporary furniture. A large, modern painting and cream wool rug add texture, while the smoothness of the surfaces helps fill the room with light.

The white living room idea is beloved by interior designers who love its simple, stylish formula.

'I love how Fran uses an all-white color scheme to serve as a pristine canvas for all of the unique design elements she has in her living room,' says Kathy Kuo, NYC-based interior designer. She continues, 'The crisp white room really highlights her beautiful statement lighting, her curated decor vignettes on her mantel and shelves, and a variety of eye-catching woven textures in her furniture.'

In its simplicity, Drescher's neutral living room taps into one of the biggest interior design trends of 2024: quiet luxury. It is at once understated and elevated. It's clear that everything in the space is made of high-quality materials. Kuo says: 'The effect feels very thoughtful and sophisticated but also comfortable and livable.'

Jennifer Ebert, digital editor at Homes & Gardens, states: 'Though quiet luxury is typically associated with a warm neutral color scheme with lots of brown and beige, Fran Drescher's take on the look is refreshingly modern. All of the white fills her space with light, highlighting the beautiful high quality of the materials. Rather than being about a single look, the quiet luxury trend is about celebrating beauty in simplicity. It's the perfect way to embrace an all-white color scheme.'

Thanks to Drescher's use of textured accessories and houseplants, the overall look is one that feels chic rather than clinical (something that's at risk of happening with thie hue). We imagine the space will feel particularly beautiful in the upcoming summer light when the color can be at its most bright and airy.

Though all white paint and flooring can be difficult to pull off, it's a color scheme worth a try. One look at Fran Drescher's living room tells it all.
