FPL tips: Three differential punts to take for final day of Fantasy Premier League season

Traditionally a high-scoring festival of attacking football where some teams are accused of being ‘on the beach’, Fantasy Premier League managers will be excited at the prospect of Gameweek 38.

Especially when you notice that this 2023/24 campaign has already broken the previous record for most goals.

That’s why - in this last chance to shoot up all rankings and mini-leagues - many FPL managers will likely be using their last free transfer on some maverick, template-busting differential punts.

With this in mind, here are a few intriguing names with under 10 per cent ownership, courtesy of Fantasy Football Scout.

Brennan Johnson (£5.8m)

Spurs are specialists in final-day entertainment. Their last eight have averaged 5.6 goals and, when visiting Sheffield United, it’ll be the fifth time in nine years that they end by travelling to a relegated side and their third in a row.

Not only that, the Blades have conceded the most ever goals in a Premier League season (101) and regularly get hammered at Bramall Lane.

Ange Postecoglou’s lot are in poor form too but, on this occasion, it’s logical to put faith in the Spurs man with most big chances (21). Johnson also has five goals and 11 assists so far, owned by 1.8 per cent.

The Welsh international set up a hugely dramatic Heung-min Son (£10.0m) chance that could have pegged back Man City. Instead, all Arsenal can do is beat Everton and hope for the best elsewhere...

Kai Havertz (£7.5m)

Havertz is playing up front for the Gunners but is listed as an FPL midfielder.

Considering his form, it’s remarkable that he’s still deemed a differential. Eight goals, eight assists and six double-digit hauls in 13 matches, blanking just three times.

He’s cheaper than teammate Bukayo Saka (£8.9m) but someone with even fewer owners is Leandro Trossard (£6.5m), whose four goals in five successive starts will gain attention.

Malo Gusto (£4.3m)

To conclude, an occasionally-injured individual who brings plenty of attacking threat from defence but tends to be a risky pick over the medium term. Perfect for a final-day punt.

For example, in midweek Chelsea’s Gusto made his first start since Gameweek 33. Thanks to a 69th-minute substitution, he locked in a clean sheet before Danny Welbeck’s (£5.7m) consolation removed them from teammates. Combined with an assist, he rewarded managers with 12 points.

Furthermore, the late Reece James (£5.3m) red card should secure Gusto’s place in Sunday’s line-up at home to Bournemouth.
