FPL Salah Gameweek 20 Tips: Best Cunha Replacements

Abdul Rehman (FPL Salah) continues with his SportsCasting weekly Fantasy Football advice to provide you with another round of FPL tips for Gameweek 20 and beyond.

Every week FPL Salah will be providing you with insight and advice to gear you up, continuing with his Fantasy Premier League fancies for this weekend’s next set of fixtures.

This is his 18th season playing FPL, and he’s finished in the top 1,000 four times, with 14 finishes in the top 50,000. He also writes weekly FPL articles for The Athletic and Fantasy Football Hub.

FPL Salah’s Fantasy Football Tips For Gameweek 20

This week, FPL Salah will be presenting his Fantasy Premier League tips that include the the best Matheus Cunha (£7.1m) replacements. The Wolves forward was taken off injured at halftime against Spurs last gameweek and also has a possible ban coming up so you might need to replace the Brazilian soon.

Chris Wood (£6.6m) – Nottingham Forest

Chris Wood has had an great season so far with 11 goals and one assist. Both he and Nottingham Forest have exceeded expectations as they sit second in table at the time of writing. Wood is Forest’s clear talisman and first choice centre forward.

He has a 46% Goal Involvement (goal or assist) for this side this season and its clear everything goes through him in the final third, while the Kiwi is also the first choice penalty taker. Forest also have some good fixtures on the horizon – they play Wolves (A), Southampton (H), Bournemouth (A), and Brighton (H) next.

The fixtures do get a bit difficult from Gameweek 26 onwards but Forest have proven they can beat the bigger teams and are real contenders for a top six finish. He is also cheaper than Cunha so an easy target to acquire.

Nicolas Jackson (£8.3m) – Chelsea

Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson has had a good start to the season with nine goals and four assists. He is the clear first choice number 9 for Enzo Maresca and will no doubt score well over the season.

The Senegalese forward has been benched a few times over the festive period but with the schedule getting a lot kinder, and their loss to Ipswich I don’t see him being benched again anytime soon. He does cost a bit more than Cunha but the difference at the moment is £1.2m which can be freed up from elsewhere if you have a few free transfers.

Jackson is a great long term option as Chelsea’s fixtures are great for a long time. There only tough game from an attacking point of view until Gameweek 29 is Manchester City (A) in Gameweek 23 and as we know Pep Guardiola’s side have been a shadow of themselves this campaign.

Also this Chelsea side are one of the best attacks in the league. They have scored 38 goals (third most) with an xG of 38.12 (second best) and will no doubt end the season in the top four for goals scored. Jackson can both score and assist and is a reliable long-term pick.

Jean-Philippe Mateta (£7.2m) – Crystal Palace

Palace forward Jean-Philippe Mateta hasn’t had the best season, only managing four goals and one assist. However we do know that he can deliver and be a good FPL asset as he scored 16 goals and seven assists last season.

Also Oliver Glasner’s sides fixtures are great long term. During the next 10 they play Leicester City (A), West Ham (A), Brentford (H), Man United (A), Aston Villa (H), Ipswich (H) and Southampton (A).

They will surely score fair amount of goals during this period and Mateta could get a few during this run. He is also only owned by over 3% of managers so is a huge differential too.

The Frenchman is nailed to start, and the likely first choice penalty taker. He did take Palace’s last penalty while Eberechi Eze (£6.6m) was in the field.

Other options

Alexander Isak (£9.2m) is the obvious best replacement but I did not include him with the Swede costing over £2m more than Cunha.

If you have the cash in the bank to get the Newcastle star or can get to him with your free transfers then I would definitely make that move. He is the best forward in the game right now.

If you want to go cheaper to generate some cash for another position then I still think Joao Pedro (£5.7m) is the best cheap forward in the game, despite his recent goal drought. He is nailed to start, on penalties and has some decent fixtures coming up after he plays Arsenal in Gameweek 20. Over the next 10 Brighton come up against, Ipswich (A), Man United (A), Everton (H), Southampton (A), Bournemouth (H) and Fulham (H).
