Every week FPL Salah will be providing you with insight and advice to gear you up, continuing with his Fantasy Premier League fancies for this weekend’s next set of fixtures.
This is his 18th season playing FPL, and he’s finished in the top 1,000 four times, with 14 finishes in the top 50,000. He also writes weekly FPL articles for The Athletic and Fantasy Football Hub.
This week, FPL Salah will be presenting his FPL tips that include the three best Arsenal attackers, following Bukayo Saka’s (£10.5m) injury.
FPL Tips For Gameweek 18
Martin Odegaard (£8.3m)
Martin Odegaard benefits the most from the Arsenal attack due to Bukayo Saka’s injury. He rates a sold FPL tips alternative for the sidelined Gunner.
He should now be the first choice penalty taker and see a boost to his expected minutes also. He is also likely to take over corner duties from the right where Saka used to take them as the only other left footed midfielder.
Arsenal have a great fixture this week against Ipswich who have conceded the fourth most goals (32) with an xGC of 35 (second worst). Going forward they have good fixtures for attack also with Brentford (A), Brighton (A), Spurs (H), Aston Villa (H) and Wolves (A).
Over the season Arsenal have scored the third most goals (34) with an xG of 30.93 (sixth) and they are likely to add to those tallies in Gameweek 18 and through this the upcoming games.
The Norwegian is only six percent owned and is actually a great long term hold also, or at least until Saka returns which is currently touted in March.
He is also a proven FPL option with eight goals and 11 assists last term and 15 goals and eight assists in the 2022/23 season.
Odegaard has high goal and assist threat and with the extra set-piece duties he can be a fine asset to help propel you up the rankings.I think he has the potential to become Arsenal’s new talisman.
Gabriel Martinelli (£6.7m)
The Brazillian hasn’t had the best season and hasn’t been nailed to start but has still managed four goals and two assists. He should now be nailed and likely to play on the right in place of Saka and his overall expected minutes should increase too.
Martinelli has shown he can be great when given the minutes and starts. In the 2022/23 season he started 34 games and scored 15 goals and nine assists.
He has both goals and assists in his locker and with Saka’s likely long lay off he could well be the one to go for.He is much cheaper than Odegaard so a great option if you cannot afford the Norwegian.
With the £1.6m saving you can use that money to upgrade other areas of your squad.
Gabriel Jesus (£6.8m)
Gabriel Jesus played himself into the starting XI with his hatrick against Crystal Palace in the last round of the Carabao Cup.
He didn’t let the manager down as he then scored a brace and created an assist against Palace in Gameweek 17 so his starting berth as the number 9 is looking pretty secure now.
Jesus’s issue over the last few seasons has been his minutes as he hasnt been nailed to start but we have seen from both his time at Arsenal and Manchester City that when he is given the minutes his returns on the pitch are good.
The Brazilian is an all round forward with goal and assist threat. Over his career he has 148 goals and 70 assist sin 410 appearances.
He is also at a healthy 47% to score at anytime against Ipswich and he will get plenty of chances playing upfront for this Arsenal side.
If he continues to start the upside could be huge with him as he’s is capable of big hauls and his price of £6.8m is an absolute bargain. He is cheaper than the likes of Matheus Cunha (£7.1m), Nicolas Jackson (£8.3m) and Dominic Solanke (£7.5m) to name only a few.
