FPL GW22 Tips: Holly Shand's Best Differential In Each Position

Holly Shand returns with another round of FPL tips on SportsCasting as the FPL expert has selected the best differential in each position ahead of Gameweek 22.

The FPL template has been blown wide open, with plenty of cheaper and low owned picks delivering consistently on a weekly basis.

So which differential player in each position have I got in my thoughts as a transfer in for Gameweek 22?

FPL Gameweek 22 Tips: Best Differential In Each Position

Defender: Nikola Milenkovic vs Southampton (H)

Nottingham Forest’s secret to being third in the Premier League table is their defensive output, where they’ve kept a leading nine clean sheets in this campaign, conceding just 20 goals in 21 games.

They rank second of all sides for big chances conceded on their goal, with 20. Despite this form, it’s still differential to buy a slice of their defence.

You can still pick up centre-back Milenkovic at differential status, in 7.8% of teams. He’s had five big chances on goal this season, providing a constant aerial threat from set pieces, standing at 6ft 5.

Gameweek 22 is the perfect entry point against Southampton at home, who have conceded a leading 22 attempts from set pieces this season.

Saints have failed to score in five of their last six games. Meanwhile, Forest have four clean sheets in their last five league games, conceding just once in this period.

Midfielder: Phil Foden vs Ipswich Town (A)

Manchester City’s return to goalscoring form has gone under the radar in FPL, largely due to the high price tags of their main attacking assets.

They are unbeaten in their last four league games, scoring nine goals in this period, with plenty of differentials to consider.

Phil Foden carries the form, producing three goals and one assist in the last four gameweeks. He’s in only 5.5% of sides but is now a constant in Pep Guardiola’s attack once again, with six consecutive starts in the Premier League.

His £9.2 million price tag is hard to justify though. Motivation to buy is high ahead of a trip to Ipswich Town, but then Manchester City’s schedule becomes far tougher, facing Chelsea, Arsenal, Newcastle, Liverpool, Spurs and Nottingham Forest in the subsequent six gameweeks.

Forward: Cody Gakpo vs Brentford (A)

I’m beginning to sound like a broken record, but Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo remains my favourite differential in the game and I’m astounded that his ownership remains under 10%, in 8.7% of sides at the time of writing.

He’s now started nine consecutive league games. Gakpo is playing a slight reverse out of position role on Liverpool’s left wing, but it’s clear he is a favourite of Arne Slot, playing the full 90 minutes in a challenging 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest.

He has the recent form, with three goals and one assist in the last four gameweeks. Liverpool have scored 15 goals in their last four away games, while Brentford are without a clean sheet at home in this campaign, conceding nine in their last four at the Gtech Stadium.

Liverpool players are attractive investments given their upcoming Double Gameweek 24.
