FPL Gameweek 21 Tips: Cheaper Alternatives To Arsenal Defenders
Save money and sell your Arsenal defender for one of these four cheaper players.
I have no doubt Arsenal will finish the season in the top three of most the defensive metrics that matter like clean sheets, goals conceded and expected goals conceded. History tells us under Mikel Arteta they’re an elite defence and they’re a very solid defence first team.
However, Arsenal defenders don’t come cheap and with a tough fixture run ahead, and more importantly, lots of other cheap defenders playing well, there is a strong argument to reduce funds in your back line and swap a Gabriel or William Saliba for one of these defenders.
Daniel Munoz (£4.8m)
Daniel Munoz is effectively a wide forward when Crystal Palace are in possession. He has the highest XG of all defenders in the game and attacking returns are surely on the horizon for the Colombian who has an incredible fixture run ahead. Clean sheets are never guaranteed at Palace but we know from last season, Oliver Glasner can drill this team to being tight at the back.
Lewis Hall (£4.9m)
Lewis Hall is one of the most in form players in FPL right now having earned 42 points in his last five matches. When he keeps a clean sheet or produces an attacking return, he’s always in the mix for bonus points because of his creativity. Eddie Howe encourages Hall to get forward and his crossing ability is a huge asset to the Newcastle attack. With four assists already this season, both Hall and Newcastle will have ambitions to more than double this tally.
Antonee Robinson (£5m)
Antonee Robinson costs £5m and has rewarded owners with seven assists so far. The American has been linked with a move away from Craven Cottage and he’s arguably been the best left back in the league this season. He hasn’t missed a single minute of action and has been Fulham’s most consistent player in an impressive run. Robinson is the fourth most popular defender in the game with over 25% ownership and with good fixtures ahead, expect that to continue to grow.
Nikola Milenkovic (£4.8m), Ola Aina (£5.2m) or Murillo (£4.6m)
Singling out a single player in the Nottingham Forest defence is difficult. Nikola Milenkovic comes with goal threat, Ola Aina is a bonus beast and Murillo is Mr Consistent. They’re all incredible value knowing Forest have been the best defence in the league this season and having kept four clean sheets in a row, only now are the masses investing.
