FPL Gameweek 13 Tips: Top Five Budget Forwards

Gianni Buttice (@giannibuttice) is back with his latest set of FPL tips ahead of Gameweek 13. This week, he focuses on his top five budget forwards for the weekend and beyond.

FPL Gameweek 13 Tips: Top Five Budget Forwards

Budget forwards are proving highly valuable in FPL this season. Not only do they make great enablers, but many are producing consistent points and offering outstanding value.

Ranking them isn’t easy and each week opinions change but these are my top five.

Matheus Cunha (£7.0m)

Matheus Cunha just about sneaks into this price bracket because he started the season at 6.5 million.

The Brazilian has started every game since Gameweek 2, often plays 90 and with four goals and three assists in his last four games he’s absolutely flying for Wolves who haven’t lost in their last four games. Cunha is no doubt the talisman in this team, he is on all set pieces and offers assist and goal threat unlike many others in this list.

The fixture ticker looks great with plenty of winnable games and goals forecast for Cunha and co. They play Bournemouth, Everton, West Ham, Ipswich and Leicester all before Christmas day.

Joao Pedro (£5.6m)

Brighton’s João Pedro has four goals and two assists in only four starts this season. His ongoing injuries are perhaps the only concern, but it looks like he’s close to full fitness after featuring for 63 minutes versus Bournemouth last time out.

Like Wolves, Brighton sit top of the fixture ticker and home ties against Southampton and Crystal Palace, as well as trips to Fulham and Leicester in the next four gameweeks are very appealing.

Fabian Hurzeler has spoken about the importance of the Brazilian, and whilst competition for places is high in this talented squad, there is no doubt who their first-choice number 10 is.

Liam Delap (£5.6m)

Liam Delap has been one of the shining lights at Ipswich this season and he has surprised a fair few by producing six goals already.

His 11 pointer versus Spurs in Gameweek 11, followed by his strong underlying numbers against Manchester United last time out, suggest that chances will continue to come for the Englishman.

Ipswich aren’t the most reliable team to back, but when they have favourable fixtures, they are a team we can consider. With Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace, Bournemouth and Wolves in the next four gameweeks, if ever there was a time to buy an Ipswich attacker, its now.

Chris Wood (£6.6m)

No player in this list has more goals than Chris Wood, who leads the way with eight this season.

He may not be the most fashionable pick but he’s been delivering to exceptionally high standards all season, and given the fact he started the campaign at only 6 million, his value has been phenomenal.

Some may be put off by his benching in Gameweek 12, but this shouldn’t have been a surprise given that he had travelled halfway around the world during the international break.

The fixtures aren’t great for Forest moving forward, but with Ipswich at home up next, Gameweek 13 offers huge upside potential and he surely comes back into the 11.

It should be noted that he is just a goalscorer and doesn’t come with as many roots to points as some of the others, and whilst on penalties, he doesn’t offer assist threat.

Yoane Wissa (£6.1m)

Yoane Wissa has good numbers so far this season, with six goals and two assists. Like all in this list he’s proved to be excellent value for his owners.

Brentford are top of the home form table and the striker is worth targeting for favourable home fixtures. It’s manager-less Leicester up next at the weekend and he’s an explosive option.

My only concern long-term is that he becomes a rotation risk now that big money summer signing Igor Thiago is finally fit and available. I assume he will start to eat in to Wissa’s minutes soon.
