Holly Shand returns with the latest set of Fantasy Premier League tips on SportsCasting, this week focusing on her top three FPL differentials ahead of Gameweek 13.
FPL Gameweek 13 Best Differentials
There’s some significant differential targets in FPL this week, as form and fixtures collide for teams including Brighton.
While Joao Pedro dominates the transfers in for FPL Gameweek 13 and moves above 10% ownership, there are some viable differential alternatives.
Kaoru Mitoma vs Southampton (H)
Brighton have the fixture of the weekend as they entertain bottom of the league Southampton, with the hosts winning three of their last five games to sit fifth in the Premier League table. In their recent wins against Manchester City and Brighton, Joao Pedro has registered four goal involvements.
Winger Kaoru Mitoma presents a differential route into the Brighton attack, getting himself on the scoresheet last time out. He’s their highest scoring midfielder in fantasy points terms for this season, with two goals and three assists to date.
Mitoma hasn’t showcased blistering form just yet, but he has some sound underlying numbers, with three big chances on goal over the last four gameweeks and four chances created for his team-mates. Southampton are without a clean sheet on the road this season.
Yoane Wissa vs Leicester City (H)
Brentford have the best home record in the Premier League this season, with a leading 27 big chances on goal, finding the back of the net on 18 occasions. The visit of managerless Leicester City this weekend presents a glaring opportunity to back the Bees attackers.
Midfielder Bryan Mbeumo is among the most owned players in the game, having scored eight goals this season. But team-mate Yoane Wissa remains under the radar, in less than 10% of teams, despite producing eight goal involvements in eight league starts.
Wissa has the recent form too, racking up three goals and one assist in the last four gameweeks. Crucially all of those returns have come at the Brentford Community Stadium. He’s had seven big chances on goal in this time and arguably has underperformed!
James Maddison vs Fulham (H)
Spurs continue to be a side who are difficult to predict: from a shock 2-1 defeat at home to Ipswich Town, to thrashing champions Manchester City 4-0 on the road. However, we always know we can expect goals from them, with a leading 27 goals this season.
James Maddison found himself back in the starting eleven in Gameweek 12, having been a substitute in recent games. The suspension for Rodrigo Bentancur has seen manager Ange Postecoglou shake up his formation to have more control in the middle of the park, with Maddison in his preferred ten role.
He excelled in this position against Manchester City, scoring a brace, which takes him up to nine goal involvements for the season: five goals and four assists. Expect him to thrive alongside target man Dominic Solanke against Fulham, with his dead ball deliveries an important source of points.
