FPL Best Double Ups: Holly Shand's Gameweek 16 Tips

Holly Shand is back with another round of FPL tips – this week centred around the best double-ups for Gameweek 16.

Liverpool, Chelsea, and Arsenal are flying high in the Premier League table, with premium midfielders Mohamed Salah, Cole Palmer, and Bukayo Saka their top performing FPL assets and the most owned players in the game.

So which other assets should we be adding for double-ups on these teams?

FPL Gameweek 16 Best Double Ups

Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.0m)

Doubling up on the Liverpool attack isn’t viable right now given the competition for places in their front three, but we do have an alternative route to consider with full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is among the most attacking defenders in the game.

Trent has three assists for the season so far, with two of those coming from the bench in the 3-3 draw against Newcastle United last midweek. He ranks second among defenders for both key passes (25) and big chances created (7) this season.

Liverpool’s defence has been the best in the Premier League this season, with a leading seven clean sheets and just 11 goals conceded. Goalkeeper Alisson Becker is set to return from injury too, which will further bolster their defensive output.

Enzo Fernandez (£5.0m)

Chelsea come into FPL Gameweek 16 on a four-game winning streak, where they’ve scored a leading 14 goals in this period. Midfielder Enzo Fernandez has been involved in 36% of those goals, racking up three goals and two assists in this period.

He’s been a surprise package in this spell, having started the season as a defensive midfielder. We’ve since seen him move higher up the pitch, picking up pockets of space on the left side of the ten, providing the perfect pairing with Cole Palmer.

Enzo has made nine key passes, including four big chances created in this period. He shares corner duties with Cole Palmer from either side, which also provides an important route to points. He is a punt, but at this price point and with those fixtures, it’s got every chance of paying off.

Kai Havertz (£7.9m)

Arsenal have been feeding off set-piece goals in recent gameweeks, but a return to open play goals could come in their upcoming schedule. They face Everton, Crystal Palace, Ipswich and Brentford in the next four gameweeks.

Striker Kai Havertz has started 14 of the Gunners 15 league games this season, where he’s produced five goals and two assists. Five of those goal involvements have come at the Emirates Stadium, with a clear home advantage for those games against Everton and Ipswich.

Havertz seems to avoid the rotation that we see in Arsenal’s midfield spots, which makes him an attractive option for this coming period. He’s had three big chances on goal in the last four gameweeks and looks set to add to that.
