Fox News reporter Lucas Tomlinson on Sunday found himself on the receiving end of scorn from White House officials after questioning President Joe Biden‘s age.

During a Sunday News segment, Tomlinson attempted to shed light on concerns about Biden’s age. Tomlinson presented a news package in which he showcased a reporter questioning the president about being “too old” for a second term.

However, Tomlinson failed to disclose that he was the reporter posing the question to the president. The clip showed him asking, “Mr. President, are you too old to be running for reelection?” to which Biden responded, laughing, “That’s stupid.”

White House officials wasted no time in poking fun at Tomlinson’s oversight. Andrew Bates, a White House spokesperson, humorously questioned the identity of the reporter in the clip. He tweeted, tagging Tomlinson, “Are you able to speculate on whose voice that is shouting? It sounds familiar to me but I’m having difficulty placing it.”

“Are you able to speculate on whose voice that is shouting? It sounds familiar to me but I’m having difficulty placing it,” said Bates that was transcribed on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Deputy press secretary Olivia Dalton also joined in, stating, “Lol that reporter was… you.” Tomlinson’s report did not feature anyone else questioning Biden about his age.

There has been an ongoing debate around Biden’s age and his potential for another White House term. A poll conducted by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research revealed that 77% of U.S. adults, including 69% of Democrats, believe Biden to be too old to effectively serve another term.

Biden, however, remains resolute amidst these concerns. “They’re going to see a race, and they’re going to judge whether or not I have it or don’t have it,” he confidently stated regarding the electorate’s perception.

The 46th President of the United States is currently the oldest president in U.S. history and has the opportunity to be the oldest to be elected for a second term.

Former President Donald Trump is the likely nominee for the GOP for the race for the White House in 2024.

Biden is currently facing an approval rating of 40% where Trump is currently polling ahead of the incumbent president in several key swing states.

The president’s son, Hunter, is facing legal troubles over his perjury of purchasing a gun to an alcohol and drug question, which he is under investigation from the special counsel.
