Fox News pushed back against President Donald Trump's "Liberation Day" tariffs on Wednesday after a small business' tariffs on an order increased by 12 times overnight.
"Fox & Friends" co-host Steve Doocy discussed Casey Ames, the 34-year-old owner of a small business that imports developmental and sensory toys for children with special needs from China. Ames told the New York Post his tariffs bill on a recent order skyrocketed from $26,000 to $346,000 at midnight.
"I may sound calm on the phone but I'm really not," Ames told The Post. "I'm afraid my employees won't make it through, real jobs are on the line and at risk."
Doocy used Ames's experience as a cautionary tale to Americans who believed Trump when he said foreign countries pay the tariffs.
"That's not true," Doocy said in a clip circulating on X. "According to this guy, half of the small businesses and half of the tariffs are being paid for by Americans."

On Wednesday, Trump again raised tariffs on products imported from China to 125% after the nation increased its levies on U.S. imports to 84%. Trump also announced a "pause, and a substantially lowered reciprocal tariff" to countries that did not retaliate against the U.S.
