A year removed from resigning as CEO of the Marlins, Derek Jeter has revealed his next move.
Jeter was introduced as the newest member of Fox Sports’ MLB broadcast team during the network’s Super Bowl pregame show on Sunday. He’ll join a crew that includes Alex Rodriguez and David Ortiz.
“I was on set at the World Series in Philly, and Ortiz kept showing me his World Series ring,” Jeter said of his decision to move into broadcasting. “So I figured I’d just join the team now, and we can humble him a little bit.”
Jeter played two decades in MLB, all for the Yankees. After retiring in 2014, he bought a small ownership stake in the Marlins and became the franchise’s CEO. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in ’20.
The move reunites Jeter with Rodriguez, who were Yankees teammates from 2004 to ’13. Rodriguez has been with Fox since ’17.
