A FOX cub discovered in the bath of an Edinburgh home has been rescued.
After the resident of a house on Ormidale Terrace near Murrayfield returned home on Tuesday, they discovered the canine hunkered down in their bath after getting in through an open door earlier in the day.
The Scottish SPCA was then called and managed to safely rescue the animal and return it to the wild.
Catherine Atterton, an animal rescue officer for the SSPCA, said: “The resident of the house got a bit of a shock when they discovered the fox cub in the bath!
"They think the animal must have sneaked in through an open door at some point during the day but wasn't sure when.
"Thankfully the cub was unhurt, just a bit frightened.
"We were able to release the cub back into the wild straight away in the vicinity of the fox den we think they came from."
People are urged to call the Scottish SPCA or seek advice on the charity’s website if they discover an animal in distress within their home.
