Fourth child dies after contracting Strep A

A fourth child had died after contracting Strep A, it has been reported. It comes as the viral infection sweeps primary schools in the UK, with deaths also reported in Surrey and Wales.

Four-year-old Muhammad Ibrahim Ali, died at his home on November 14 after suffering a cardiac arrest, his family said. The little boy went to a school in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire called Oakridge School and Nursery.

Muhammad's tragic death comes after the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) confirmed a child in London has also died after contracting the virus. Yesterday, Victoria Primary School in Penarth, Wales, confirmed the death of another child who had contracted the infection, named as Hanna by family friends, the Mirror reports.

A six-year-old pupil at Ashford Church of England Primary School in Surrey also died from strep A at the beginning of last week.

Speaking to a local newspaper, Mohammed's mum Shabana Kousar said: "The loss is great and nothing will replace that. "He was very helpful around the house and quite adventurous, he loved exploring and enjoyed the forest school, his best day was a Monday and said how Monday was the best day of the week.

"He also had a very close bond with his dad. He was his best friend and went everywhere with him. He just wanted to be with him."

There is no indication that the four deaths are related to one another in any way.
