The Parkhead club previously announced matches against DC United, Chelsea and Manchester City in America.

Now, it has been revealed Brendan Rodgers' side will take on Ayr United in a warm-up fixture this summer.

The match will see Rodgers face Scott Brown who is currently manager of the Championship club.

It will be the first time in 25 years that Celtic will play at Somerset Park in a fixture to commemorate the opening of the North Stand at the ground.

An Ayr United statement confirmed: "The Club are delighted to announce that @CelticFC  are coming to Somerset Park on 5th July, for the first time in 25 years, for a Pre-Season Friendly to mark the opening of the new North Stand.

"It's sure to be a match you don't want to miss! Tickets on sale soon."

Celtic will play Ayr United on Friday, July 5 before jetting Stateside to face DC United on Sunday, July 21, Man City on Wednesday, July 24 and then Chelsea on Saturday, July 27.
