Fourteen-year-old among three teens charged with murder over Sydney Easter Show stabbing

18-year-old arrested over deadly Easter Show stabbing

A 14-year-old boy is among three teenagers charged with murder after a young male was stabbed to death at this year's Sydney Royal Easter Show.

Uati 'Pele' Faletolu, 17, was working at the show when he received stab wounds to his torso after a brawl broke out near the amusement rides at about 8pm on Monday, April 11.

He died on his way to hospital.

Another male, 16, sustained leg injuries and has since recovered.

At the time, NSW Police conducted an extensive appeal for information, and after hundreds of hours of trawling through social media, CCTV footage and iPhones, three young males have been charged.

Police say the victim and perpetrators all "had knowledge of each other".

State Crime Commander, Acting Assistant Commissioner Jason Weinstein, said detectives from the Homicide Squad and officers from the Raptor Squad had worked hard to make the arrests amid many challenges.

"From the outset, police were met with a wall of silence from associates of those involved and undertook a painstaking investigative process to reach this point," Acting Assistant Commissioner Weinstein said.

"This and other recent acts of knife crime that we've seen were senseless acts of violence which have had devastating consequences for victims, their families, and also those allegedly responsible."

A 14-year-old is due to appear before Parramatta Children's Court.

Police allege he was responsible for inflicting the stab wound but also say the group acted in a "joint criminal enterprise".

The teenager was arrested on Friday in Arndell Park in Western Sydney at about 2:30pm and charged with murder at Blacktown Police Station.

It follows the early morning arrest on Saturday, July 9 of an 18-year-old male at a home in Shalvey, also in Western Sydney.

He was denied bail the following day at Parramatta Children's Court, where he is due to reappear this coming Monday.

The third arrest was made at Schofields train station on the Richmond train line on Wednesday, July 13 at about 5pm.

Police say the man was taken to Riverstone Police Station, where he was charged.

He was refused bail at Blacktown Local Court on July 14 and is due back in court on Wednesday, September 7.

Acting Assistant Commissioner Weinstein said the investigation was expected to uncover more perpetrators.

"There are still other individuals who we know that were party to this offence, we continue to conduct investigations with the ultimate aim of still identifying those other offenders," he said.

"If you are one of those individuals that were there … I implore you to go to your local police station and hand yourself in. We will not rest until every individual involved in this matter is currently before the courts."

In the past month, police have confiscated about 100 knives and laid more that 230 charges relating to their possession.
