Four things spotted in Everton training as Dominic Calvert-Lewin all smiles and Ashley Cole hands-on

Everton will be looking for their first Premier League win under new manager Frank Lampard when they welcome Leeds United to Goodison Park on Saturday.

Leeds United produced an impressive display in a thrilling 3-3 draw at Aston Villa in midweek but Everton will be looking to bounce back from their 3-1 defeat at Newcastle United.

It was the fourth loss on the run in the Premier League for the Blues and it leaves them just two points above the drop zone.

They need a result against Leeds and Lampard and his players have been preparing for the huge match at Finch Farm.

And we spotted four things from the training images released by the club.

DCL jokes with the boss

Everton star striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin was an unused substitute in Tuesday's loss at Newcastle but the latest training pictures show him having a joke with Lampard.

Is the striker ready for his first start under the new manager?

Lampard wasn't giving away much in his press conference.

Role for Jonjoe?

Lampard confirmed in that pre-match press conference that centre-half Yerry Mina is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines with the injury he suffered at St James' Park.

Mina will be absent for 8-10 weeks and it means the Blues have just three fit central defenders in their ranks in Michael Keane as well as Mason Holgate and Jarrad Branthwaite, who were both pictured.

So, too, was Jonjoe Kenny. And he could come in at left-back with Lampard confirming that Vitalii Mykolenko will also miss the Leeds match along with Mina and Demarai Gray, who came off against Newcastle.

The good news is that Gray's injury is not thought to be serious and he could return to action at Southampton on Saturday week.

New boys happy

Dele Alli and Donny van de Beek were both spotted in high spirits in the training pictures and both could be in line to start on Saturday.

The new signings both made their Premier League debuts for Everton from the bench on Tuesday and Lampard needs to them to regain their best form with points desperately needed.

Hands-on Cole

While Lampard was leading the session, his new first-team coach Ashley Cole was also hands-on.

The former Arsenal, Chelsea and England left-back watched his first match from the stands as the Blues beat Brentford in the FA Cup.

But Cole was very much involved on the training ground, helping Lampard put the players through their paces.
