Four professional swimmers from Delhi, who were in the city for training, have been arrested for the alleged gang rape of a nurse in the city.

The victim, a 22-year-old woman befriended one of the accused, Rajath, on a dating app last week, sources said. The two met for dinner for the first time at a hotel on New BEL Road on March 24night. Later, Rajath invited her to his room, which he shared with three others. As she went to his room, all four youths in the room took turns and raped her , she has alleged in the complaint.

The victim added that she was also assaulted. She said she called her friends seeking help after midnight and they turned up at the house and rescued her in the wee hours of Friday. She lodged a complaint with Sanjaynagar police later in the day. A medical examination of the victim confirmed sexual abuse and rape, police sources said.

Police swung into action and arrested the four accused Rajath, Shiv Rana, Dev Saroha and Yogesh Kumar, all in their early twenties. Rajath and Shiv Rana had been in the city for the past three months, renting the room where the crime happened. Their friends Dev Saroha and Yogesh Kumar had joined them a week ago for swimming practice in the city, police sources said.
