After announcing his top three teams earlier this month, four-star offensive lineman Nick Brooks revealed his choice on Friday afternoon. Brooks officially committed to the Texas Longhorns, choosing Steve Sarkisian’s team over Georgia and USC.
Brooks was long seen as a Bulldog lean but had began trending heavily towards Texas in recent days.
He is listed at 6-foot-7, 345 pounds, and played his junior year at Kennedy High in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, before transferring to Grayson High in Loganville, Georgia, for this upcoming season. He is the 14th rated tackle in the nation and 20th rated player in Georgia.
Brooks’ commitment gives the Longhorns a much-needed recruiting victory in a class that has started somewhat slower than those of recent years, placing them 12th nationally and eighth in the SEC.
The Bulldogs currently sit at the fourth ranking nationally, trailing only Ohio State, Alabama, and LSU, respectively, according to 247Sports’ team composite rankings. Georgia currently holds commitments from four offensive lineman in the class of 2025.
