Four-star linebacker Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa chooses another Midwest power over Ohio Sate

Things looked good for Ohio State and its chances of landing its biggest remaining target at linebacker for the 2024 class, but in the end, the Buckeyes missed out.

Out of St. John Boso in Bellflower, California, Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa chose Notre Dame instead of Ohio State on Sunday despite many signs pointing to the Buckeyes perhaps being in the lead for his services. At 6-foot, 3-inches, and 230 pounds, Viliamu-Asa is ranked as the No. 8 linebacker and 102nd overall prospect in the 2024 class. Besides the Buckeyes and Irish, the other school in the running was USC.

Based on quotes from the talented linebacker, the choice of Notre Dame was the best of what he wanted from academics, football, and spiritual life, and it’s hard to fault the kid for doing what he felt was best for him.

Missing out on Viliamu-Asa means the Buckeyes will have to decide whether to stay pat with the two linebackers it has committed in the class with Garrett Stover and Payton Pierce, or look elsewhere to round out that position group.

Count us a bit shocked on this one because it sure looked like he’d be wearing the scarlet and gray.
