Christmas isn't all about the mad rush to buy presents and getting the turkey in early, it is a time to spend with family and loved ones.
There is nothing more magical than walking a festive market all wrapped up from the cold, or drinking mulled wine surrounded by lights in a winter wonderland.
Scotland is perfect at Christmas as the weather turns frosty and us Scots spread some festival cheer.
Finding fun things to do with the children over the festivities can be tricky and expensive.
But don't worry as have picked out four of the most magical events you can do with all the family.
Elfingrove
Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum , in Glasgow, will be transformed into a winter wonderland throughout December and January for Elfingrove .
The famous building will see a spell-binding Night at the Museum meets GlasGLOW at Christmas tour with a show which will capture the true magic of Christmas.
Using state of the art technology, sound and lighting and lots of elves, visitors will be transported into a fairy-lit winter wonderland.
Dates for Elfingrove have been extended to run from the December 5 – January 5 after unprecedented demand for the inaugural event (excluding 24 – 26 Dec and 31 Dec – 2 January).
Christmas at the Botanics
It's the most wonderful time of the year as the tree tops of Edinburgh begin to glisten and shimmer.
The stunning after-dark experience will light up the Botanic Gardens for all the family to enjoy.
Along the 2019 route you'll step into a Laser Garden where dancing lines of light playfully bounce across the branches; stroll towards the waterside reflections of the Festive Flotilla as hundreds of glowing boats gently bob on the shimmering surface and walk between larger-than-life icicles and neon spiral trees rising high into the night sky.
The event runs from Friday, November 22 to Sunday, 29 December.
Santa's Woodland Experience
Journey into the woods to find Santa's woodland home on a converted tractor trailer.
Once you reach the home you can go in and meet Santa himself and all his elves in his grotto deep in the forest - kids will also get a free gift from the big man himself.
Fun for all the family with a magical winter experience, hot drinks and food are available in the shed cafe.
The event is only access by car at North Ballochruin Farm, Balfron, Stirlingshire.
Tickets must be bought in advance with prices starting from £8.
Christmas Grotto Experience
Every weekend in December Santa's Grotto will appear at Scottish Deer Centre, Cupar so children can meet Santa and his reindeer.
There's fun and games for all the children plus a gift from Santa, and half price entry to the rest of the park to see all the other animals.
Enjoy a magical experience for all the family on the fun day out in Fife.
