Four men are facing serious drug charges after allegedly trying to import 60 kilograms of methamphetamine into Sydney, hidden in a magnet.

Australia Border Force officers found the $18 million worth of ice on March 16, stashed in a consignment containing an industrial magnet, NSW police said.

Following the find, police on Wednesday made a "controlled delivery" of the consignment to an industrial site in Ingleside, in Sydney's west.

Police said four men - aged 21, 22, 25, and 30 - were arrested "as they allegedly attempted to access the consignment with an angle grinder".

Detectives later searched homes in Ingleside, Frenchs Forest and Roselands where they seized white powder, bank cards, mobile phones and documents.

The four men were charged with attempt to possess a commercial quantity of a border-controlled drug.

All were refused bail and were to appear at Manly Local Court on Thursday.
