South Australia has recorded another four deaths of people with COVID-19, amid a significant rise in daily cases.
There are 1,624 new cases, an increase of 486 on yesterday's figure.
And the number of new cases is the highest in six days.
There was also a spike at the same time in the week previously.
The increase in case numbers comes on the back of a significant increase in number of PCR tests conducted.
More than 10,000 of the nasal swab tests were conducted, the highest since the day before Australia Day.
Those who died were two women and a man in their 80s, along with another man in his 60s.
There are 227 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including 19 in intensive care, five of them on ventilators.
Among the new cases was senior Labor MP Tom Koutsantonis, who joined the party's leader, Peter Malinauskas, is testing positive for COVID-19.
The Adelaide Crows have cancelled a trial game planned for Friday, with 16 players out of action due to COVID-19 infections, or as close contacts, or due to injury.
In a statement, the club said it was acting on the AFL's health and safety protocols and would instead hold a regular training session at West Lakes on Friday.
The Crows' head of football, Adam Kelly, said it was disappointing for players after a hard pre-season and for supporters looking forward to the trial being streamed online.
He said the cancellation was not expected to affect preparation for the AFL season.
Thousands of cases among children
Of the 13,822 active cases in the state, 4,046 were children, SA Health said.
South Australian school students returned to in-classroom learning on Monday.
The Department for Education says of the 173,000 public school students, about 19,000 are isolating due to COVID-19, while 393 teaching staff are also absent due to the virus.
Some reception classes at East Marden, Mitcham, Craigburn and Stirling North primary schools have been cancelled until next Monday after outbreaks.
The state government says its staggered approach to face-to-face learning has reduced the forecast number of COVID-19 cases this month by between 20,000 and 30,000.
