Three men and a woman have been arrested after a man was stabbed to death in Tottenham in the early hours of Monday morning.

The Met Police were called to reports of a stabbing on Tiverton Road shortly before 5am on Monday.

A 36-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Met Police said while officers believe they know the victim’s identity, enquiries are ongoing to inform his next of kin.

A 20-year-old man was arrested at the scene, while a 23-year-old woman and two other men, aged 20 and 23, were arrested nearby.

All remain in custody under suspicion of murder.

A mother, who lives on Tiverton Road with her young children described how two raids were carried out on her block in the hours after the attack.

She told the Standard: “It’s been an absolute nightmare. I could not even take my kids to school. I wasn’t allowed to move my car.

“The entire block was cordoned off from 5am,” she added. “As my partner left this morning he had to be escorted out by police.”

She continued: “I have only lived here nearly a year. This is the first time I have seen something like this. There is normally nothing. It’s really peaceful.

“As soon as we came out of the block there was blood all over the floor. There was a tent, everything.

“There are lots of forensics. There were four or five vans of them. There are still police here. Everything is cordoned off.”

A man who works in a warehouse just 50 yards away from where the stabbing happened told the Standard he was “not surprised” by the stabbing.

The neighbour, who wanted to remain anonymous, said: “This happens around here a lot. I’m not surprised something like this has happened... It feels normal.”

A heightened police presence remains in the area and a cordon has been put in place while specialist officers carry out their work.

Detective Chief Superintendent Caroline Haines said: “We are saddened to hear about this morning’s tragic incident and are working to ensure the man’s family are informed and supported by specialist officers as soon as possible.

“Our officers acted swiftly and arrested four people on suspicion of murder who are now in custody. Local residents can expect to see more police in the area while we carry our enquiries and as part of extra patrols.

“We are also urging anyone who may have seen or heard anything related to this incident to contact us, you may have information vital to our investigation.”

A police spokesperson previously said: “At 04:55hrs on Monday, 13 January officers were called to reports of a stabbing on Tiverton Road, N15.

“Despite a rapid response from officers, paramedics and the London Air Ambulance, a 36-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Four men have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in custody.

“There is an enhanced police presence in the area and a crime scene remains in place while officers from Specialist Crime continue to investigate.

“If you have any information, please contact 101, quoting 807/13Jan.”
