A "really intelligent" parrot who knows an array of human phrases often chooses to tell his owner to "f*** off" instead.
Lorraine Gregory, 58, got Scooby the African Grey after his previous owner died.
She's had the potty-mouthed bird for six months and she says she can hear the Teesside twang in his voice.
She said: "He’s like a human. As soon as I put my coat on to go out, he says, bye Lorraine.”
She added: "He came to us six months ago after his previous owner died.
"At first he would only say hello and cough as though he had a chest infection."
Lorraine, who works at the James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough, posts videos of Scooby's antics to entertain her NHS colleagues.
"He spends a lot of time with my mum because I work long hours. And now I come home to Scooby swearing and chatting away to her," she said.
"For some reason he just knows how to respond to you. He’s obviously just picked it up.
"He is foul-mouthed but he’s also really intelligent."
Lorraine said that "he’s an amazing boy and we love him very much despite the fact he tells us to 'f*** off' so often."
Lorraine has filmed Scooby shouting: "Let me f***ing out!" and responding with an emphatic "No" when asked if he's going to be a "good boy" with his Teesside accent.
"When I get home from a shift at 5am he never fails to make me smile," she added.
"He’s so rude to us but really we wouldn’t have him any other way."
But Lorraine said that Scooby does have a tender side, too. He asks Lorraine to "give us a kiss" and tells her "I love you."
