Although the Los Angeles Lakers have had the goal of running it back as much as possible with their current core, they also clearly wanted to add contributors.
They started the NBA’s free agency period on Friday by coming to terms with forward Taurean Prince, a 3-and-D player who spent the last two seasons with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Los Angeles then agreed to a contract with Gabe Vincent, a plucky two-way guard who played a key role in the Miami Heat reaching the NBA Finals. It then kept forward Rui Hachimura on a new three-year deal.
The team also signed Cam Reddish, a 6-foot-7 forward who was a lottery pick in 2019.

Reddish hasn’t put it all together in four NBA seasons. He has a career average of 10.3 points in 24.9 minutes a game, but he has shot just 39.9% overall and 32.2% from 3-point range.
He spent the first half of the season with the New York Knicks, where he was benched for a long stretch before being traded to the Portland Trail Blazers. The forward is a player the Lakers have had on their radar for some time now.
If he finally realizes his potential as a 3-and-D player, he could turn out to be a good value signing for the Purple and Gold.
