Fortnite typically updates on a Tuesday, and considering Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse content is set to arrive in-game today, players are wondering if we're in for an update today.
After last weeks Web Battles event, the Fortnite x Spider-Verse crossover is set to begin with the Miles Morales skin set to arrive in the Fortnite Item Shop today. Alongside the Spider-Verse skins is the return of the Web Shooters mythic item which – as the name implies – allows players to shoot webs to swing around the map like some sort of spider-based superhero, sort of like the ODM Gear currently in the game thanks to the Eren Jaeger crossover.
Due to the Web Shooter mythic being added alongside the new skins, many are wondering if we'll see a Fortnite update today alongside the costumes launching in the item shop at 2pm BST / 9am EDT / 6am PDT. While it's unlikely we'll get a big update – such as Fortnite Update 24.50 – today we could see a tiny update like we had a couple of weeks ago, which was small enough that it didn't even justify adding a number to the end of the game version.
However, since the Spider-Man Web Shooters have been in the game before during previous events, perhaps Epic Games won't need to update the game, and can simply move the item into the live rotation.
Will there be a Fortnite update today?
The short answer is no, there likely won't be a Fortnite update today. The long answer is Epic Games typically will put out a tweet on it's @FortniteStatus Twitter account to warn players about any incoming downtime due to an update, and considering the time that the Spider-Verse crossover is set to kick off is only a few hours away, we can't imagine they will post one.
That being said, with the aforementioned miniscule update a few weeks ago, Epic Games had posted a Tweet on the @FortniteStatus account at the time of the update saying that an update had been released, so there's still a chance that there will be a Fortnite update today, just not one that's as big as you would hope. All signs are pointing to this Fortnite x Spider-Verse event being a decidedly smaller affair than the likes of the Fortnite Find the Force event which took over the game for three weeks (and culminates today when the Miles Morales skin arrives).
Meanwhile, the last update was Fortnite Update 24.40 which brought us Fortnite Ranked, and from the sounds of things may take us all the way until the end of the season on June 9, 2023.
