Fortnite's 'Season 5' Shifty Shafts Treasure Map: Where To Find The Treasure

Fortnite

It’s time for the last treasure map of Fortnite season 5, one more battle star to hunt as you try to climb up as many tiers as possible before the end of the season, and tier 100 is out of reach forever.

The map is found in Shifty Shafts, but if you’d rather not visit there to check it out, well, that’s what this guide is for. The map actually leaked about two weeks ago, so the location has been known for a while now, but if you don’t follow Fortnite leaks as closely as me, I don’t blame you.

Go here to see where to visit seven Stone Heads. Go here to see how to solve all week 9’s challenges.

This week’s treasure spot is actually somewhat tricky. Here’s what the map looks like that you’ll find in Shifty Shafts if you go there:

The Map

You probably recognize that land formation, though you may not remember precisely where it is. It’s actually just southwest of Dusty Divot and northwest of Salty Springs. Here’s where that is on the map:

And here’s what that looks like as you come down from the air:

Once you get there, it was actually a little complicated to find exactly where the treasure spot is. The map shows what angle you should be viewing the mesa formation to understand where to “dig,” but even knowing this, it took me a little while to figure it out. You want to approach the mesa from the east, and here’s the angle you’re looking for in order to see the mesa exactly how it’s laid out in the treasure map. I am aiming my gun at the place where the treasure spawns:

Then you simply ramp up there and get your treasure, though you may encounter a swarm of people trying to do the same thing.

You can land directly on the spot if your bus path is helpful enough, though with so many potential platforms, you may get confused and end up on the wrong one. That literally happened to me, and then you’re forced to navigate around the mesa using the limited resources there (there are only a few trees and rocks to farm). The safest bet is probably to do this in 50v50 where your team members may actually be trying to get to the same thing, and that means you can have an easier approach and even potentially use a teammate’s ramps.

I actually liked this map a lot because it required a bit more thinking than the others, given how relatively confusing this landmark is. I hope we see more “advanced” maps like this next season, though I wouldn’t put it past Epic to alter the entire concept, seeing as how they’re slowly changing challenges from season to season. Instead of just a treasure map, maybe it’s a scavenger hunt with multiple locations and clues, but we’ll see.

Regardless, I hope this was helpful to you, and that you were able to fumble around quite a bit less than I did and find the treasure right away. See you next time.
