There’s a new treasure map available in Fortnite: Battle Royale for Season 4, Week 3. And while not all the challenges will work this week until Epic implements v4.2, this one does. It’s another Treasure Map, this time asking you to follow a map in the pleasant suburban neighborhood of Salty Springs. As we know, however, you don’t actually need to find the map itself in order to get the treasure: plenty of people have already grabbed this one through a datamine, so all you need to do is go to the treasure location and nab it.
Here’s where to search for 10 Rubber Duckies to complete another week 3 challenge.
If you want to take a look at the treasure map, however, you’ll want to go to Salty Springs. It shouldn’t be all that busy, because I get the feeling that most people make a beeline for the treasure right away. Once you’re there, however, here’s what you’ll see, courtesy of Youtube user Flamm:
That image should be instantly recognizable to anyone who plays the game, or even just anyone who’s looked at the map. We’re going to the racetrack, or as you may know it: the strange collection of squiggles on the eastern edge of the map. It’s just north of Moisty Mire and looks more or less like I just described. The place that we’re going is the crux of the southern squiggle, just near a big willow tree. Here’s the location marked on the map:
It’s a nice and accessible location, not too close to any major hot spots but sure to see plenty of action this week. The tree is going to be your best marker when you’re dropping in, and expect a party particularly if you’re searching for it in the couple of hours after the challenge goes live. I saw a whole lot of the newly released chicken dance from other committed challenge completers:
The racetrack has been one of my favorite landing spots for a little while now: it’s popular among other fools not quite looking for the fight you can find at one of the major landing zones. It’s gotten a bit busier since Season 4, however, because just to the West there’s a small crater surrounded by government trucks that can usually spawn 2-3 chests and set you up well for fights in Salty Springs or elsewhere. That’s where I’d recommend going if you’re killing treasure hunters this time around — just remember to do a player the courtesy of allowing them to finish collecting the treasure first. After that, it’s fair game.
This post has been updated to include the image of the map.
