Fortnite's New Dark Bomber Skin Contains A Major Clue For The Future Of The Map

There’s a clue in the new Dark Bomber cosmetic set that points to the future of Fortnite’s map.

Last night, Epic Games dropped a surprise Outfit and cosmetic set into Fortnite: Battle Royale.

The Fortnite community had long-suspected an evil version of Brite Bomber was on the way, and after a tease on Twitter it was all but certain.

So it was no surprise when Dark Bomber showed up in the Item Shop. She showed up with several cool pieces of kit as well. The evil version of Brite Bomber has an evil pickaxe to match, but perhaps the most interesting new cosmetic is her Back Bling.

The Dark Bag Back Bling has the same evil Pegasus as her pickaxe, but it’s the background behind the Pegasus that should catch your eye. Check it out:

The Dark Bag

While there’s a cool Rubix CUBE hanging from the bag, it’s the background behind the Pegasus that’s most important here. That’s because instead of rolling hills, or even corrupted areas, what we see are volcanoes. Lots of volcanoes, spewing smoke into the air. Little dribbles of magma can be seen running down the slopes.

This is perhaps the most glaring evidence that the CUBE will not just corrupt the map, those corrupted areas may actually turn into volcanoes. There was a theory during Season 5 that the CUBE would turn Loot Lake into a volcano, and that could also still happen. One way or another, it does appear that changes are coming and they’re going to be hot. Super hot. Lava hot.

I welcome these changes. I have to admit, the CUBE has not been my favorite Fortnite event. I actually found the comet a bit more intriguing despite it being much less over-the-top. But I have loved more drastic map changes like the addition of the desert and Paradise Palms; the still unnamed Viking Village; Tomato Town turning into Tomato Temple; and the complete overhaul of Dusty Depot into the beautiful forested valley it’s become. Oh, and the Haunted Castle is pretty cool.

Brite Bomber’s vision of her evil twin.

Of course, who knows when these volcanoes may appear. My best guess is much later in the season. Then we could have Season 7 devoted to the question of when they might erupt and what sort of devastation would follow in the eruption’s wake.

I guess we’ll see. What do you think? Let me know on my Facebook page or hit me up on Twitter. Thanks for dropping by!
