Fortnite’s second annual ‘Fortnitemares’ Halloween event is upon us, and it comes with all kinds of spooky new content.
During the event players will take on AI ‘CUBE monsters’ which are basically just purple glowing zombies, because of course Kevin was going to make a bunch of zombies spawn. This adds one of Save The World’s key elements—fighting zombies—to the Battle Royale portion of the game. Should be interesting.
There are also four new sets of challenges that unlock every few days and are free for everyone. The first set unlocked this morning. The next unlocks in 3 days, then 5 days, then the final one in one week.
Here’s the first set of challenges:
- Destroy Cube Monsters (0/200)
- Deal damage with Assault Rifles or Pistols to Cube Monsters (0/5000)
- Visit a Corrupted Area in Different Matches (0/7)
- Dance in front of Different Gargoyles (0/5)
If you complete this first set of challenges you get the ‘Fiery’ emote, a little green flame you can snap into existence.
But if you complete all four sets of challenges you’re awarded with something much cooler, the Dark Engine glider:
How To Solve Them
If you’re looking to dance in front of five gargoyles, check out our guide here.
The rest of these challenges are a bit more straightforward.
The first two challenges go hand-in-hand. You have to eliminate CUBE monsters and deal damage to them with assault rifles and/or pistols. The obvious answer here is to always use assault rifles (or pistol, in a pinch) against CUBE monsters when you encounter them.
You’ll encounter them in Corrupted Areas, of which there are seven scattered across the map. Head to those in seven different matches, bring your assault rifles and pistols, and do your worst.
Eliminating enemies near Corrupted Areas is also one of Season 6, Week 4′s challenges, so you have a chance here to knock out some other challenges at the same time. Meanwhile, just visiting all seven is one of Season 6, Week 2′s challenges. Epic is recycling this challenge to some degree here, but it means you can get more done at once.
Here’s a map of all the Corrupted Areas:
That’s all for this first batch of challenges. Be sure to tune in tomorrow morning for the Week 5 challenges and this weekend for the second batch of Halloween challenges.
