‘Fortnite’ Reveals Date And Time Of Its Big Galactus Nexus War Fight

The end of the current season of Fortnite has been somewhat nebulous, but now Epic has finally given us a date and time for its massive season-ending event, a fight against Galactus.

That will be on Tuesday, December 1 at 4 PM ET, though Epic recommends you get into the game 60 minutes early, and the playlist will be live 30 minutes ahead of time. I very much recommend you do what they say, as I was completely locked out of the last “drown the map” event despite getting in like 30 seconds after they opened it up. That was frustrating, and you can bet I don’t want to miss this Galactus fight.

My guess as to what’s happening here is that Epic is finally doing the thing they’ve been preparing to do for years now, the idea of a huge “world boss” battle where Galactus will have trillions of HP, and every Fortnite player across every platform and region will shoot him or use Marvel superpowers to chip down his HP bar. Literally, the largest boss fight in video game history.

Of course, maybe this is just another pre-rendered fight like the monster versus the mech, and we’ll see Marvel heroes zipping around fighting him while we just watch. But I have a hunch that Epic means for all of us to actually fight Galactus live, which will be one of the cooler moments in video gaming, if it works.

Epic says you can prepare now by making sure you have the latest patch downloaded, as apparently there will not be another major one before the event. Past that, just make sure you show up on time and don’t miss out and have to watch it on stream instead. This sounds like something you will not want to miss.

Donald Mustard specifically has said that their Marvel partnership is not ending with this season, and really, this is more of the beginning of something much larger. They have the next few years of content for the game mapped out, and I think this is where they try to move into true Metaverse territory, bridging gaps between different IPs, and I would expect Marvel characters to stick around for future seasons, even if we don’t have any more full-on Marvel seasons like this one. I genuinely have no idea what the theme of next season will be after the Galactus fight, nor how much of the island will be left standing after the battle, as that seems like a recipe for some mass destruction.

This is still almost two weeks away, but just mark your calendar now so you don’t forget. Of all the epic Fortnite events we’ve seen, this seems like it will be one to remember above most others.
