Race tracks: they’re always a reliable thing here in Fortnite: Battle Royale. They’ve shown up in several challenges over the seasons, and they’re a nice way to get a thoroughly non-combat experience into battle royale that mostly makes use of existing resources. We just need vehicles, a starting line and a way to move, giving us a fun little diversion as we move from potentially lethal encounter to potentially lethal encounter. And so it’s no surprise that they’re making a return here in season X, which so far has been a kind of “best of” of the past 10 seasons, visiting old locations, revisiting olds skins and giving us some new mechanics that are mostly based off of what we’ve seen in the past. Most people already know where these things are, but in case you missed it, here’s where to complete a lap of a racetrack in Fortnite: Battle Royale.
There are three race tracks to choose from: one just outside Happy Hamlet, one on the eastern shore in the desert biome, and one up north in the grassy area by The Block. Here’s where you’re looking:
The most obvious one is the big black squiggle over in the desert, and that’s where I imagine most people are going to drop: expect heavy resistance on this one, because not only is it going to be the most popular racetrack, it’s also pretty easy to shoot people throughout its length: all a spoilsport needs to do is camp up in the stands with an AR to make things difficult for you, and trust me: they will. If you want to make this a little bit easier, choose the one up north. That’s bound to be the least populated, and it’s also a pretty short racetrack, all things considered.
In order to complete this, grab a vehicle–there should be some ready for you to use–and go to the starting line. It will count down and then spawn some checkpoints for you. Drive through the checkpoints to complete your lap, and note that this won’t count if you just sort of go through the racetrack without following proper procedures.
That’s it! An easy challenge, but a fun one. A lot of these challenges have me thinking that we’re going to see a new map next season, because Epic seems to be designing these things so as to avoid having to build new assets. We’re reading tea leaves here, but it’s still something to note.
