Fortnite heal eggs: where to find them and how to complete the challenge

The latest Fortnite Spring Breakout quest tasks players with healing themselves with two heal eggs and a piece of meat in a single match, some of which can be tricky to find.

The Fortnite Spring Breakout event is coming to an end. Since its launch alongside Fortnite Update 24.10, we've had to talk to Cluck – a giant humanoid chicken man, command specialist characters, and even plant chicken crossing signs to lead the poor chickens to safety. The event ends on Tuesday, April 11, when Fortnite Update 24.20 and the Fortnite Mikasa and Levi skins crossover with Attack on Titan are set to launch.

After helping the chickens out, it's their turn to help us with the Day 12 quest, 'Consume two Heal Eggs and a piece of meat in a single match'. This one sounds quite simple, but it can be deceptively tricky to pull off. Luckily we're here to help.

Fortnite Heal Eggs: how to find them

Eggs in Fortnite come from chickens, an it's the green chickens you're after as they're the variant that lay Heal Eggs. Now the bad news is that there isn't an exact point where you're guaranteed to find a chicken. The good news is that they spawn all across the map meaning you can find them just about anywhere.

But if you want a push in the right direction we recommend the grassy areas to the west side of the map. The big patch of land between Anvil Square, Frenzy Fields and Shattered Slabs has been a pretty good place to find them in our experience.

If you're struggling to find them we would also recommend turning on the 'visualise sound effects' option in your audio settings which will show you the direction in which various sounds like enemy footsteps, gunfire, and – most importantly – chickens, are coming from.

Fortnite Heal Eggs: what are they

If you've been playing the Fortnite Spring Breakout event you'll have noticed that the chickens roaming the map now come in snazzy green and purple variants. Each chicken lays a corresponding coloured egg; the purple ones lay Hop Eggs which allow you to jump higher, longer, and be impervious to fall damage; the green chickens lay Heal Eggs, which heal you.

Here's what a heal egg looks like (Scott McCrae)

Once you've found the green chicken, chase it about for a while and it should lay a Heal Egg, which can be used to repair both health and shields They can be consumed right there and then or you can pick them up to save for later.

If you happen to find one of these eggs but there's no chicken in sight, worry not as one will eventually hatch from the egg if you wait long enough, and the circle of life continues.

Fortnite Heal Eggs: complete the challenge

So to complete this challenge you need to consume two Heal Eggs and a piece of meat within a single match. As mentioned before you can consume a Heal Egg to repair your health and shields, which won't work if both are full. Meanwhile, the piece of meat can only repair your health and can be obtained by blasting the poor chicken that just helped you out by giving you Heal Eggs. Once the chicken is eliminated, a single piece of meat should drop which can be added to your inventory.

Now if you've done this at the beginning of a match it can be a bit more troublesome as you likely haven't lost any health yet. The best way to safely do this is by jumping off the roof of a building to get some fall damage. Just be careful not to go too high or you'll be instantly eliminated. Or – if you're feeling spicy – you can go and get into a gunfight to take the necessary damage to consume the meat and Heal Eggs.

And that's your lot. A tidy 20K XP towards your Battle Pass level is yours. This is the second-to-last Fortnite Spring Breakout quest, and you still have until Tuesday, April 11 to complete it.
