"May the 4th" is going to be a blast for "Star Wars" fans who are set to celebrate its festivities on "Fortnite" as another crossover with the "Star Wars" franchise is on the way. This time, it will not be in the form of skins alone.
In this year's celebration, Epic Games has teamed up with the "Star Wars" franchise to deliver the "Galactic Battle" mode that will host a battle royale dedicated to the epic space story.
One of the most anticipated debuts here is the arrival of "Darth Jar Jar," and it is transforming a popular fan theory into reality, at least in "Fortnite," which reimagines the character as a menacing Sith Lord.
'Fortnite Galactic Battle' Brings New Battle Royale Mode
The latest "Star Wars" Celebration event over in Japan has brought significant update on what the franchise will offer next, and for this year, a massive experience coming over to "Fortnite."
First, the team introduced the new "Fortnite Galactic Battle" via a teaser trailer, which showed off a new "Star Wars" themed battle royale mode in the game.
In the trailer, it showed off another Death Star looking to destroy planets in the way of the Empire, with a seeming reincarnation of Darth Sidious/Senator Palpatine. Apart from this, the trailer also hints that players may take the fight to the skies, and then it proceeded to show X-Wing fighter jets alongside a new vehicle equipped with a laser shooter on top of it.
The great news is that "Star Wars" also confirmed that players who will join "Fortnite's Galactic Battle" will get a chance to pilot both the X-Wings and the TIE Fighters once the mode is available.
Moreover, a themed map is coming to "Fortnite," but not much has been revealed about what it will bring when it drops on May 2.
Darth Jar Jar and More Coming this 'Fortnite' May Event
However, one of the biggest surprises here is the arrival of "Darth Jar Jar," which the public has been asking for several decades now. A popular fan theory has long designated Jar Jar Binks to be the true villain and is secretly a force-wielding character who is a Sith in disguise.
Jar Jar Binks is known to be a Gungan, but despite his clumsy and flimsy attitude, many believe him to be a character that has dark intentions against the likes of Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and the other heroes of the prequels.
Despite this not being confirmed, "Fortnite" and "Star Wars" have turned this into reality, leading the addition of "Darth Jar Jar" that is coming alongside the new mode.
Another surprise coming with the upcoming May event in "Fortnite" is a Mace Windu skin soon to be available in the Item Shop, alongside his purple-colored lightsaber. Moreover, a "Star Wars" themed Battle Pass will also arrive, featuring Emperor Palpatine and a Wookie Cuddle Team Leader that may not necessarily be Chewbacca.
