Fortnite has a new set of challenges live today, and there are not one, but two chicken-based challenges in this new hunting-focused season.
Players are being asked to both hunt a chicken (not exactly the most dangerous game) and to fly 20 meters with a chicken, which is a bit more fun.
Go here to see where to eliminate Raptor, Zenith or Blackheart.
Animal spawns can feel somewhat random on the Fortnite map, but there are a number of spots you can check where they spawn somewhat routinely. Here are some various chicken-related locations on the map you can visit to try to find them during a game to complete both challenges:
To recap we have:
- Chickens east and south east of Pleasant Park
- Chickens north east and south east of The Spire
- Chickens north east of Colossal Crops (or sometimes within Colossal Crops)
- Chickens south of retail row.
Update: Added a whole bunch more.
There are more, but that should be enough considering you do not need more than like, two chickens for both of these challenges. Or one, if you fly with it first and then execute it, but that’s just mean.
To hunt a chicken, you just shoot it. The end. Dead chicken.
To fly with a chicken you first have to chase and catch the chicken, and then grab it by holding the action button when you’re near it. Once you do that, you will be able to fly with the chicken like it’s a glider if you jump off a hill or a roof or something. The challenge tells you to fly 20 meters with a chicken, but I’m not sure if that’s in total, or in one go. To be safe, jump off something high with your chicken just to get it done in one go.
There are many animals on the map now, frogs, fish, wolves, boars and now velociraptors, but the chickens may be the goofiest of the lot. We’ll see if more animals are added over the course of this season like we saw with the raptors. Unlike the Zelda games, you can kill chickens here with no repercussions, as I know many of you may have PTSD from chicken swarms in those games.
Anyway, those are two challenges for the week you can knock out essentially at the same time if you don’t mind playing chicken executioner. See you out there.
