Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 is set to launch in a few days, and there's already a broken rift gate and torn sky in-game teasing big changes to come.
Fortnite has fully entered preparation mode for its incoming seasonal update, which promises lots of new content by way of skins, map changes and potentially even a first-person mode. It isn’t expected to arrive until Thursday, March 9, and as is usually the case at the dawn of a new season, we're seeing in-game events ramp up as we head towards Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2. In this case, the appearance of a huge red rift in the sky.
The Fortnite rift was first noticed last week, with players sharing images and clips on social media, like this one by @realkrae, alongside an exploded Rift Gate below. The Rift Gate has been building in energy throughout the course of this season, so it’s still not clear whether this was the plan all along or whether some unknown force came in to salvage the Rift Gate unnoticed. Either way, players would be wise to brace themselves for whatever is set to come through the red Fortnite rift when Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 kicks off.
Seeing red
The big franchise crossover for Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 appears to be Attack on Titan, according to the slew of reputable leakers. The anime’s main character, Eren Yeager, is heavily rumoured to be Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2's secret battle pass skin, alongside his Waist Grappler as a mythic item that's expected to function like the grapple glove. Attack on Titan recently debuted its new season, so the timing for such a crossover lines up perfectly. Could a titan break through the sky?
Also leaning into the anime theme are the leaked images of a futuristic-looking ‘Neo Tokyo’ setting that may give a section of the map a major neon makeover. Again, this POI map change (alongside new pistol and shotgun weapons and futuristic motorcycles) have been revealed by Fortnite leakers..
Whether or not all these changes happen at the start of Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2, the appearance of a red rift in the sky is gearing players up for something major in just a few days. Thankfully, we don’t have to wait too much longer to find out what’s in store.
