Fortnite season 8 is all about exploration, and now the game is asking players to climb its tallest peaks and ascended its highest mountains. Literally, that’s the challenge, you have to visit the five highest elevations on the island. This joins the challenge from a few weeks ago about visiting the furthest west, east, north and south points on the island and I guess after this, what, we have to visit the lowest elevations on the island? We’ll see.
This is probably a little bit harder than the directional challenge because you can’t see where all the highest elevations are that easily. I mean, you might be able to gauge some of the most obvious ones, but there are a few that you would not guess in your first five tries. I know I didn’t.
Go here to see how to solve all week 6 challenges.
You know you’re “correct” because the spot you visit will have a little sign that tells you just how high the point is. So, in descending order of height, here are the places you need to visit on the Fortnite map, and you may want to consider dropping directly on them or you might spend a considerable amount of time and building materials getting there otherwise.
#1 The Volcano – 172 meters
The tallest point on the map is also the newest. That would be the volcano, which just beats out Polar Peak’s super castle at #2. But to visit the exact “point” you have to go to the far rim of the volcano opposite from the “Frodo throws the ring into Mt. Doom” spot, and then you’ll see the height sign. Use the draft from the volcano to get there if you can’t land directly on it.
#2 Polar Peak – 170 meters
I sort of ruined the surprise of this one, but this was obviously going to be one of them. I mean, it’s a castle sitting on a mountain of ice that you can see from anywhere on the map. It beats out the Haunted Hills castle which does not make the top five, even though I thought it might.
#3 Skewered Submarine – 130 meters
This is one that I would not have guessed initially. This will be one of the trickier ones to get to unless you initially land on it, but yes, the submarine in the air is the third highest point on the map. I sort of feel like this isn’t true, but I guess I have to trust Epic.
#4/5 (Tie) Random Mountain and Stunt Mountain – 111 meters
The right mountain has ramps and hover boards and Quadcrashers and shopping carts. But you’ll need to go to them both to complete this challenge.
In case you can’t figure out where all of these are just from the pictures I took, I also made a map for your viewing pleasure. As you can see, the western side of the map has way, way more of these than the right. I visited a few of the mesas in the desert because I thought they might be top five, but they were not.
Get to climbing folks. I’ll try not to knock you off if I see you up there, but no promises.
