'Fortnite' Challenge: Where To Search Jigsaw Puzzle Pieces Under Bridges And Caves

fortnite

We’ve got new challenges in Fortnite: Battle Royale, and good news: there’s some interesting stuff this week. Which is fitting, because it’s Ruin week. This is the first week players that have been keeping up on their challenges will be able to complete the discovery challenge and unlock Ruin, the fearsome fiery knight that Epic revealed a few weeks ago. We don’t yet know exactly what’s going to happen, but we do know that we’re going to have to complete some challenges to conjure him into this world. One of the more interesting challenges this week is a return to form, asking us to find jigsaw puzzle pieces under bridges and in caves. Read on for maps, guide and locations.

Bridges are pretty easy to find, all things told. Look for water on the map and look for a road going over them: there are only a couple on the map, most of them along the big river that cuts through the center of the island from Lazy Lagoon to Lucky Landing. Caves are a bit more confusing: they’ve long been around as little alcoves to find treasure/cower in fear, but they haven’t been used for much until now. Let’s take a look at the map for a bunch of bridges and caves:

Fortnite

In text form:

  • Over the river near Lucky Landing
  • Over the river just south of Shifty Shafts
  • In the Yeti Cave West of Polar Peak: you can enter it either from the edge of the island or in a hole up top, in a circle of trees
  • In between the desert biome and the “normal” biome, just west of Paradise Palms.
  • Over the smaller river south of Paradise Palms
  • In a cave on the northeastern approach to Tilted Towers
  • In the big hole just south of The Block
  • In the waterfall-ish area near Lonely Lodge

Here’s what they look like on the ground. They can actually be tough to find against white backdrops, but they move a little bit to make themselves known.

Fortnite

That should be enough to do it: we’ll update if we find some more locations, but these are the caves and bridges on the map. The only issue is that it’s a little unclear exactly what the game will define as a cave, but all of these things should definitely count.

It shouldn’t take too long to grab all of these: last time we did this we formed a picture of a llama, and this time it forms…something else! I won’t spoil it for you. We’ve had fewer of this style of challenge this season for some reason, which is a shame: I like the way these things temporarily take a competitive shooter and turn it into something totally different, even inside the context of battle royale. It’s what makes Fortnite unique, and I hope to see more of it going forward.
