Authorities in Clarksville, Tennessee, have announced that two individuals have been charged in the tragic death of U.S. Army Private First Class Katia Duen~as Aguilar, a Fort Campbell soldier who was found stabbed nearly 70 times in her home last year.
Sofia Rodas, 35, faces charges of first-degree murder and tampering with evidence, while Reynaldo Salinas Cruz, Aguilar's husband, has been charged with tampering with evidence related to her death. Both suspects, who were previously held on unrelated federal charges, were extradited to Clarksville for further legal proceedings.
Duen~as Aguilar, originally from Mesquite, Texas, joined the Army in 2018 and was stationed at Fort Campbell in Tennessee. She served as a member of the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade within the 101st Airborne Division.
An autopsy conducted by the Montgomery County Medical Examiner’s Office revealed that Duen~as Aguilar sustained a total of 68 stab wounds to her neck and upper body. The medical examiner determined the cause of death to be a homicide resulting from sharp-force injuries to the neck.
