Former Yankee Candle employee shares 'secret policy' that gets you a free product

A social media user has pointed out a little-known 'jar-for-jar' policy at Yankee Candle that could get shoppers a free product.

Taking to her TikTok account Ashley Lester, who posts under the username @ashlester, the former Yankee Candle worker claimed that you can get an 'entirely brand new candle for free'.

She was responding as part of a TikTok trend in which ex-employees share a 'company secret' that most do not know, writes The Mirror.

Ashley said: "You can take in your candle and get another one, exchange it out for another one, even if you've already burned it."

"This one," she said, whilst holding up a jar that had almost been burned to the bottom, "is basically all the way burned.

"I could take this in and just say: 'I didn't like the smell', and then they would give you an entirely brand new candle for free."

Ashley added in the comment section: "I forgot the best part! You don't need a receipt to exchange it!"

The clip received more than 45,000 views and over 2,000 likes. TikTok users took to the comments to share their thoughts.

Another person claiming to be an ex employee said: "The policy is there if you truly didn't like it. I worked for them for 10 years. However, repeat offenders are tracked and cut off if necessary."

The move divided some users. One wrote: "lol but im embarrassed to walk in with a fully burned candle saying that".

"I'd feel bad doing this. but then again they did charge me $19 for wax," joked another.

A third wrote: "Yep! Bath and Body Works, who is owned by the same company, does the same thing!"

The Daily Record have contacted Yankee Candle for comment.
