Former world champion boxer Carl Froch disgusted by 'clown' YouTuber Jake Paul

Boxer Carl Froch has branded a famous Youtuber a 'clown' and spoke of his disgust at the social media star being considered a professional fighter. Nottingham-born Froch appeared on his one-time rival George Groves' podcast and was responding to his old opponent putting YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul on a list of professionals.

The former world champion was asked to speak about when YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul faced Ben Askren, Nate Robinson and Anderson Silva. Instead Froch, 45, vented about what he saw as Paul's lack of boxing credentials.

"Jake Paul is a clown, such a f****** idiot. What a ponce. He's not even a fighter," Froch, said.

"He shouldn't even be on this list. You have disgraced this list by putting his name on it. It is disgusting you have put him on this list of boxers."

Paul previously fought and knocked out retired MMA welterweight Askren, 38, ex-NBA star Nate Robinson, 38, and former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley, 40. More recently he registered the biggest win of his short career by beating UFC legend Anderson Silva, 47, in October.

Froch has been repeatedly outspoken about YouTube star Paul's boxing career. In July he said he would be willing to make a comeback and "beat up" YouTube star Jake Paul in a boxing clash.

Froch has not fought since infamously defeating George Groves in front of 80,000 people at Wembley Stadium back in 2014 and entering retirement. He would be so confident of beating Paul that he would be willing to touch gloves without any kind of training.

“I would yeah, because I wouldn’t consider that to be a fight,” Froch told the Daily Star when asked if he would consider fighting Paul. "I know he’s doing what he is doing, and he is improving, and he has people that want to watch him box, which is great, fair play to him.

"But somebody like that, how do I put it, if I tried to play football against the top clubs, it’s going to be pointless me being on the bench, or me playing tennis against the top players. Jake Paul, is playing at being a professional boxer, but he is not. He can’t really fight, he knows how to stand up straight and he knows how to swing a punch, but he’s not a professional boxer.

"So to answer your question, if Jake Paul called me out, then absolutely. I wouldn’t even train for it, I’d take him on, I’d beat him up, and I’d get a good pay day because it’s Jake Paul, then I would go home happy." Froch has a impressive record having scored 33 victories during his time in the professional ranks with just two defeats against Andre Ward and Mikkel Kessler.
