Former Warrior wants Jonathan Kuminga to enter the dunk contest

Juan Toscano-Anderson wants Jonathan Kuminga to commit to the 2025 dunk contest. The former Golden State Warriors wing believes his former team’s emerging star could make a major splash in the struggling event, and would draw a fresh set of eyes from fans around the world.

Kuminga has flashed his athleticism at multiple points this season. He’s rapidly become Steve Kerr‘s best rim threat and has added a dimension to Golden State’s offensive approach. As such, Toscano shared his thoughts on X, formerly known as Twitter, anointing him as the best athlete he “had ever been around.”

Kuminga, 21, would be an ideal addition to the dunk contest next season. He would follow in the footsteps of Jaylen Brown, who stepped into the event this year before losing to Mac McClung. Kuminga is arguably a more gifted athlete than Brown, which could give him an advantage.

Nevertheless, Warriors fans would likely prefer the young star to focus on developing his game and establish himself as a key member of the franchise’s future. Still, if an opportunity to compete and potentially win the dunk contest arises, it would be fun to see him competing against some of the best dunkers in the world.
