In a recent interview, a former official at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) raised serious concerns about alleged corruption and mismanagement within the agency during President Donald Trump's first term in office.

The former official, Mark Moyar, who worked at USAID from 2018 to 2019, claimed that some staffers at the agency were actively working to undermine the president's policies and were sending taxpayer dollars overseas to support DEI and LGBT advocacy initiatives.

Moyar alleged that many employees at USAID had ties to the previous Obama administration and had voted for Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election. He described instances where aid meant for Syria was being hidden from the White House to prevent President Trump from canceling it.

Furthermore, Moyar highlighted instances of significant financial mismanagement at USAID, including the discovery of a 'big slush fund' that political appointees were unaware of. He also pointed out conflicts of interest where employees used their positions to benefit private businesses in which they had a stake, which he described as illegal.

Moyar claimed that his own troubles at the agency began when he reported an office director who was allegedly using his position to assist a specific company in which he had a personal interest. Despite reporting the misconduct, no action was taken, and Moyar eventually faced repercussions.

As a result of these allegations, the Trump administration, in conjunction with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) led by Elon Musk, decided to shut down the $40 billion agency. Moyar emphasized the importance of investigating the agency's records to uncover wasteful spending, particularly related to DEI initiatives.

He criticized the promotion of DEI and LGBTQ agendas abroad, stating that these efforts were not only wasteful but also damaging to U.S. relations with other countries. Moyar predicted that further investigations would reveal a pattern of waste, fraud, and abuse at USAID.

Established in the 1960s, USAID was created to provide aid to impoverished and underdeveloped regions worldwide. The Trump administration has raised concerns about the agency's spending practices, alleging that it has been promoting a liberal agenda internationally.
