Former US Attorney General Eric Holder, who advised during the Harris campaign’s vetting process for her vice presidential pick, has come to the defense of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz amidst recent controversies surrounding misstatements made by the governor.
Holder stated that Walz has apologized for his misstatements and that the vetting team did not overlook any significant information during the process.
Since being selected as Harris’ running mate, Walz has faced criticism for misrepresenting his military record, details about his fertility treatment, and his whereabouts during protests in China’s Tiananmen Square.
Walz and his campaign have acknowledged these inaccuracies, with the governor attributing them to misspeaking. In a recent interview, Walz mentioned that Harris had advised him to be more cautious with his choice of words.
When questioned about whether any crucial information about Walz was missed during the vetting process, Holder affirmed that his team had not overlooked any pertinent details. He emphasized that Walz has taken responsibility for his statements and believes that these minor missteps will not have a lasting negative impact on him.
