Former UGA football DB retires from football

Former Georgia Bulldogs defensive back Lovasea Carroll has retired from college football due to medical reasons. Carroll transferred to the South Carolina Gamecocks from Georgia after the 2021 college football season.

The 6-foot-1, 195-pound native of Warrenton, Georgia, enrolled early at Georgia after being ranked as four-star running back recruit out of high school powerhouse IMG Academy.

Kirby Smart and Georgia football believed Carroll had a better chance to make an impact as a freshman defensive back. Carroll converted to the position during spring drills and recorded three tackles during his freshman season at Georgia. Carroll played in five games for South Carolina as a sophomore. He played as a running back, but did not receive a carry.

It is sad to see Carroll’s football career end due to medical reasons. Carroll played Warren County High School before attending IMG Academy.
